ADOPTION FACILITATORS
WARNING!
Certain persons and businesses charge money
for the purpose of finding a child for you to adopt.
Don’t do it!
Like most states, Oregon prohibits the payment
and receipt of funds for locating an adoptable child. This does not preclude
payment to licensed adoption agencies for their services or attorneys for legal
services.
Adoption facilitators can be very expensive.
They may be unprofessional in their dealings with birthparents. You are taking
your chances that they will even find a child after receiving your payment. Any
fees you pay must be reported to the court; payment of illegal fees might cause
problems in getting the adoption approved. Criminal action against you could
also result.
Be sure your adoption source is legitimate.
Licensed adoption agencies and attorneys with adoption experience are the best
resources.
